Working with Alex Mayer in both buying a new home and selling our old home was a wonderful experience! (April - June 2021) He walked us through every step of the process and was always readily available to answer EVERY question I had. I tend to stress very easily in these type of proceedings and Alex made me feel as if we were his only clients (when he was busy with many)! In buying a new home, he worked with us to get a feel for what we wanted, what we could afford, and to understand just how competitive the housing market is today. We knew it would not be easy, but he definitely made everything easier to handle. He was also the listing agent to sell our old house and again, he walked us through what we wanted to get out of the house, what we would need to do on our side and what he would do to make it available. Alex went above and beyond our expectations here and again, walked us through step by step. I can't thank Alex Mayer enough for all he did, as both buyer and seller. I highly recommend working with him for his skills, expertise and just making his customers feel positive all around. Thanks Alex!
I have sold 1 home and bought 2 homes through Counselor Realty of Rochester and all 3 transactions were seamless. I received all that you would hope for in an agent there. For those who like to use local companies with superior customer service, look no further! Amazing office with hardworking staff, dedicated Realtors and management who will go over and beyond for every single one of their clients.
Terrible experience. We sold our house with Counselor, with one of their "leading" realtors. After one misunderstanding (we will call it that even though it really wasn't, it was a lie or at best a mis-leading series of conversations with the realtor) he became horrible to try to work with. We were in the signing stage of selling our house and were pretty much stuck with him, you can read in other reviews why. In the first 24 hours after the misunderstanding he sent a number of immature, unprofessional text messages to us, until we finally had to say we were done and stop responding. Our communications, strictly through email and text from him from that moment on were for the most part nasty and provided the least bit of information possible (unless the other realtor was cc'd). We did sell the house, closing was delayed twice, he pretty much threw his hands in the air and didn't care, never advocated for us or helped to smooth the situation ( the buyers realtor actually contacted us directly to try to ease the delay stress instead of our realtor doing anything). We did make what we were hoping for in the sale, it's a sellers market right now. Would I recommend this place to friends, family? No, have not and would not.
Working with Counselor Realty in October 2019, to sell my home was a horrible experience. The agent was only interested in a quick sale, with all concessions at my expense. He rejected what I asked him to do and advocated for the Buyers rather than me. He breached 5 out of 6 of his fiduciary duties he was obligated to fulfill as my agent. He pressured me to make every concession asked for by the Buyers, and I received tremendous push back when I didn't comply. My house was supposed to be listed with a contingency that the Seller finds a home to buy and has concurrent same day closings. The agent listed the house on the MLS as a standard listing, and wrote the contingency into a counter offer. The Buyers did not understand the implications of this line item on the contingency: I did not have to move until I found a home, regardless of the stated closing date. Once the Buyers realized the closing date was flexible, they wanted out of the Purchase Agreement at which time I was then threatened by the Counselor Realty agents that I would be responsible for the loss of their commission because I "screwed up the sale." Because of their threatening and deceitful communications I had to hire an attorney. I have seen two other reviews/complaints posted by women who had similar experiences with Counselor Realty of Rochester, MN which makes one wonder if they are predatory toward women clients. My suggestion: Buyer Beware! Look anywhere else for an agent other than with Counselor Realty of Rochester. You will be glad you did.
Wanted some information on one of there listings. Wanted my info, after entering it, still wanted me to wait for a Realtor to "get back to me".never got
